Frequently Asked questions
The 6 most frequently asked roofing questions
What are the signs my roof has problems?
This is easily the most asked question we get. Before you do anything for your roof, you need to know you have to do something for your roof. The most common tells are:
Missing or damaged shingles
Roof is sagging in certain areas
Holes or damage to structure
Sometimes the damage is not so easily seen. Try to keep an eye out for water damage in your attic. This is a common sign that there is damage that you cannot see.
how much does a roof repair cost?
Of course, the cost of a thing is typically one of the most important factors. The price of a roof replacement depends upon the size of the roof. It is impossible to ballpark it until we measure it out and see. A repair is always going to be cheaper than an installation. To have a comparative price, here is the average cost for roofing work:
Roof Repair: $1,300 (this can range greatly depending on the size of the damaged area).
Roof Installation: $12,500
How should i choose a contractor?
This question is difficult because it is hard for us not to say ourselves! Typically, you should look for a roofing contractor who is:
Insured
Licensed
Referred and reviewed
Cost-effective
We say cost-effective rather than cheap because you don’t want to skimp out on this. Go for a contractor who can cut costs where they need to, yet avoid cutting corners.
All-in-all, get a roof contractor who you can trust. Trust is vital when working on your home, and that trust comes from insurance, licensing, and recommendations.
My roof is damaged, what do i do?
A lot of people have asked us if the whole roof needs to be replaced if there is a leak. Unfortunately, there is never a constant answer. A consultation is typically free for most roofing companies, so it would not hurt to get multiple quotes. After that, you will have three options:
Roof Repair over a segment of the roof
A complete roof installation (not as bad as it sounds)
Call insurance to see if you qualify for a replacement
The very last thing you will want to do is wait. Your home is not like a starfish, it will not heal on its own. The longer you wait, the worse the damage will be. I
how long will a roof replacement take?
One day.
For any good company, a roof replacement should just take one day. We understand that you want to have your home back for yourself. In one day, a roofing company should be able to:
Remove the past layers
Replace with new, functional layers
Clean up after!
Therefore, a roof replacement should have two points of contact. The initial day of consultation, and the actual day of repair. Other than that, you are off scott-free!
Do new roofs have warranties?
Most companies will include a warranty for a roof, the question should be how long. Typically, companies will have a separate warranty for the craftsmanship and the materials. For us, the craftsmanship warranty is 5 years.
For the materials, you would get that info depending on how many and what materials you choose. Usually it is a limited lifetime warranty for the materials.
